We are known as the "Tortilla Church" for the Food Backpacks 4 Kids Program. The program provides much needed food for the students in our district who experience food insecurity. A popular item among families served are tortillas, they create possiblities for a variety of meals and can stand up to being packed around. Each month we stock FB4K with tortillas. Donations of funds are always needed to keep the cupboards stocked.
Do you enjoy gardening or fix-it projects? Tasks like painting and pulling weeds are always more fun when done in fellowship and there are many little jobs around the church to put your skills and talents to good use! As one of our members says, "Curb appeal is just one more form of evangelism!"
Projects for Lutheran World Relief happen throughout the year. We collect items and assemble School Kits and Baby Kits, quilters meet twice a month to assemble quilts that are shipped to where ever they are most needed.
Together Women Rise's (formerly known as Dining For Women) mission is to empower women and girls living in extreme poverty by funding programs that foster good health, education, and economic self-sufficiency and to cultivate educational giving circles that inspire individuals to make a positive difference through the power of collective giving. Women are invited to share a meal, learn about the featured program of the month and contribute directly to that cause.
During this global pandemic in-person meetings have been suspended. Please see the DFW website to see the current areas of focus and how you may support them.
From health clinics to microloans, water wells to animal husbandry, community meals to advocacy, gifts to ELCA World Hunger make it possible for the ELCA to respond, supporting sustainable solutions that get at the root causes of hunger and poverty. Agnus Dei has a long history of supporting causes that will help bring an end to hunger in our local community and worldwide.
Each month our Outreach Committee chooses an area of focus for our congregation. One month it was providing a water well, another month it was a coat drive for the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Every January we hold a Toilet Paper drive for FISH, our local Food Bank.
